Unbound The Omega Trilogy Book 1 eBook JB Simmons

I discovered this book while listening to Hugh Hewit. I was intrigued by the premise of this book. From the interview it seemed to promise a completely different take on end-times fiction. Currently I am involved in a Percept Upon Precept (Kay Arthur) study of Revelation and could not resist checking this out. Then there's the fact I am addicted to reading. Once I downloaded the Kindle version, my device became an appendage. When I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the story as if it were unfolding while I worked. I rushed to get to my Kindle as soon as my responsibilities were over so I could dive back in.
Simmons writing is sharp, smart and compelling. Most of all, his story makes me feel something. I feel for the characters, I care about the characters, Elijah and Naomi. He creates believable teens in a fantasy/pre-dytopian/apocalyptic genre which is hard to do. References to 1066, Macbeth and the book of Revelation kept my brain whirring in high gear as it tried to piece together the plot.
And the faith of his characters is authentic, doesn't feel contrived or forced in anyway.
If you want a take on Revelation that is different from the usual, you must read this book. If you just want a darn GREAT read... you must read this book.
I am bouncing around like a fool trying to contain my excitement for the next one which, according to Simmon's website, will be out in early 2015.

Unbound The Omega Trilogy Book 1 eBook JB Simmons Reviews

Carnal. Silly. Over the top. Heretical nonsense. These are just a few words that come to mind in relation to this example of "Christian" literature. If you are a committed Christian, and concerned with sound doctrine, you will find nothing here worth wasting your money on. There is nothing edifying in this book. It is spiritual "junk food", a story based on old, discredited theologies.
Sweet Surprise!

I knew because of an interview I heard with the author that this book would be futuristic and prophetic (in the biblical end times sense). What I did not expect was a great tale that did not require any background. Instead of sending me to Revelations to fact check, I just fell into the story and characters and was and am hooked into the suspension of disbelief! Cannot wait for the rest of the series.

The characters are well drawn and the plot is intriguing. I love the physical descriptions of the familiar and the leap into the future with technology....seems plausible to me.

I will be looking at some other works of this author while I wait for the next release of this trilogy.
J. B. Simmons is truly a very gifted writer. I don't mean this lightly. I LOVE his style of writing. It pulls you in and doesn't let you go. . . forewarning.

Unbound is his third published work, book one of a new series, and so far my personal fav from him.

Being aware of the world's craziness and living in the 21st century where technology has taken over, I enjoyed how Mr. Simmons wrote the future so believable. It's not like Star Wars, indeed futuristic, but strangely real.

Unbound is told through Elijah's point of view and he is a fun character. He's Jewish, but holds no faith, is training to be a spy, and has these crazy dreams that mean something really big. Right away you like him and I enjoyed following him in this adventure. It was great being in his head. All of Mr. Simmons character's felt real and he did a really nice job on having a variety of people with different backgrounds.

This book is for YA, yet I recommend if for readers sixteen and older. One curse word, which wasn't too bad and it does have romance, but it's all pretty clean.

Cons . . . I don't mean this in any disrespect, I really don't, but the only con I can give is the authors view pertaining to certain events in the book of Revelation, such as the 1000 Years of Peace, which I believe has not come to pass. Now I believe in the book of Revelations just with different opinions from what is told sometimes in Unbound. He has some great history and it all flows in nicely, but I want to warn the reader to be a little cautious about some of it. I wasn't too pleased with the ending. With that being said, please look into the book of Revelation for yourself and decide. Remember Unbound is fiction, woven with some truth, so don't take it all as literal. J. B. Simmons is indeed a Christian, I don't doubt that. -) He has written a great tale and I have enjoyed it, but with all end-time fiction a warning of caution is good to have.

I look forward to book two,and I look forward to more books by J. B. Simmons.
